Mon & Wed Lotto Information
Since launching in New South Wales in November 1979, the Monday & Wednesday Lotto has expanded to all Australian states and territories. Originally it was a weekly game played only on Mondays, with the Wednesday draw being added in 1984. The midweek draw briefly shifted to Thursdays from 1989 to 1996, before returning to Wednesday. The lotto originally had a 6/40 format, before becoming a 6/44 game, and finally taking on its current 6/45 format in April 2004.
Mon & Wed Lotto rules and prizes
The Monday & Wednesday lottery currently has a 6/45 format, meaning you need to pick 6 numbers from 1-45, and a minimum of 4 lines.
Each draw has a guaranteed jackpot of A$1 million. When four or fewer ticket holders win the jackpot, they get A$1m each. If there are more winners, A$4m is divided between them all.
To win the jackpot you’ll need to get all six numbers correct, though there are six prize tiers in total, ensuring there are always plenty of winners. Two extra numbers are drawn and used for the lower-tier winnings.
Mon & Wed Lotto Tax
Prizes won on Monday & Wednesday Lotto are not subject to Australian tax. However, please remember that players residing outside of Australia are subject to the tax laws of their country of residence.
